Stepping Stones is happy to announce our summer programs for the summer of 2010. We will again be offering three day programs meeting T-W-Th. The exception being our discovery program for 3- 5 year olds that will meet on Mondays. Our three day programs will focus on two groups of children, the morning session (9:00-11:30) will be for children 3 to 5 years of age by September 2010.

The afternoon sessions(12:30-3:00) will be for children entering kindergarten through fourth grade in September 2010. The cost of any of the three day sessions will be $75.00 or $270.00 for 4 sessions. Programs will Start on Tuesday June 29, 2010 with the last program of the summer starting on August 17th.

Arts & Crafts
Week of June 28th.

Arts & Crafts for all

Does your child love to get messy? Well now is the chance to do it creatively. We will be offering an arts and crafts class this summer. We will experiment with cork prints, nature prints, and drawings as well as others. We will delve into our artistic talents by experimenting with different types of painting and modeling with different types of clay. If art & crafts are your child’s passion, this is the class for him or her.






 

Happily Ever After
Week of July 5th.

This is the class for the creative mind and a chance to let it ramble. Students will design and build puppets, work on a dance routine and plan a simple play for other students at Stepping Stones. This program will work in the art area to design simple props to incorporate into skits that the Students will perform. This is a chance for our dramatic play student to rise to the top and show off their talent.



NEAT TREATS
Week of July 12th.

One of our yearly favorites, Neat Treats is about exploring the joy and thrills of cooking. With our own cooking school graduate on staff it should be a great experience for those who love to experiment in the kitchen. Children will learn to measure, stir, and use appliances with adult supervision. They will try their hand at making cookies and pastries from scatch. Students will make pretzels and much, much more. Each day will be an adventure in cooking.

 

World Travelers
Week of July 19th.

Have you ever wanted to travel the world and sample the different cultures. This three day program will seek to learn about different countries such as China and Spain to start with. We will look at their cultures, sample their food and play games they play. Our stories will be about their countries and our art projects will be based on the countries being studied.


Pow Wows, Frybread & Native American Stories
Week of July 26th.

Have you seen a teepee? Can you make your own dyes from plants and roots? Would you like to make your own beaded leather pouch? This program will delve into the mysteries of folklore and life of Native Americans. We will listen to stories about Native Americans and our art will reflect their culture.

 



Science Detectives
Week of August 2nd.

During these three days we will learn to make simple Electrical circuits. We will learn how a flashlight works and build a simple quiz board. We will delve into the earth and talk about different types of rocks and where they come from. We will learn to read the rock record. We will learn how to measure the height of clouds during rain storms and much more.


Curious Critters
Week of August 9th.

 


Have you seen a web print made by a spider? Did you ever wonder how a bird builds a nest? Have you watched an ant work or seen an earthworm up close? Did you ever catch a butterfly? In Curious Critters we will take a hike in the woods, look at a small stream and study the world of insects to answer some of these questions.

Summer Olympics
Week of August 16th.

Join our group of young Olympians as they play volleyball, shuffleboard, have bike races, enter the
softball throw and water balloon contest. This will be a fun filled week of sports and games with prizes for all. Come join our end of the summer festival. We will end the games with a maze of hidden treasures around the Stepping Stones campus.

Circus Week
Week of June 28th
 


During Circus week we walk a tight rope and learn to juggle. We will make clown hats and paint our faces like a clown. Our theme will allow us to explore the world of circus performers and animals. All of our stories and art projects will relate to the theme.

Zoo Safari
Week of July 5th

From the world of circus animals we will switch to wild animals seen on a safari. Join us as we take an
imaginary trip to the San Diego Zoo to understand the differences between wild and tame animals. We will discuss the four basic needs of animals and where animals find food and water in the zoo, in the wild, and what kinds of food each might eat. Each day our art project will be making a different animal.

Playful Puppets & Dazzling Dolls
Week of July 12th

Join us as we construct puppets and dolls of all types. We will build mini puppets to dazzing dolls to take home. We will make finger puppets and sock puppets. Each of the students will have the opportunity to make their own dazzling doll. We will try to act out mini skits based on the puppets the children build.

At the Beach
Week of July 19th

Summer is here and a trip to the Stepping Stones beach is in order. We will build sand castles in the
sand boxes and hunt for shells in the sand. We will look for buried treasure and play in our water tables. Our stories will be Swimmi and A day at the Beach. Join us as we play beach ball throw and learn about beach safety and fun. Be sure to pack a swim suit for the beach.

Nutty Putty & Much Much More
Week of July 26th
 


Do your child like to create with their hands? Do they think it’s exciting to feel things oozing through their fingers? Then this is the program for them, as we will spend the days with all types of modeling materials, from modeling clay to edible dough. Each day will be an adventure in modeling.

Neat Treats for the Little Chef
Week of August 2nd

All kids like to snack so this class will focus on making healthy snacks. Led by our own cooking
school graduate our little chefs will prepare fun snacks for all. We will also bake and decorate cookies, try to make our own crunch bars and create ants on a log. Join us for a snacking good time.

Flowers, Trees & Growing Things
Week of August 9th

Let’s explore the things that grow around us. We’ll try our hand at vegetable painting, making dry
flower bouquets, making a papier-mâché strawberry and Explore the world of gardening. All our projects will revolve around the plant world and what we can find outside.

Ugh, It's a Bug

Ladies(bugs that is) and germs, bugs and worms, come join us one and all in the land of creepy crawlies. We will look through our bug glasses, paint our butterflies and moths, sing spider songs and hear tales of caterpillars and play buggy games. Let’s explore the world of bugs.

Discovery Days
For three year olds to four year olds

Now that summer has arrived and there is no more nursery school, does your little one need something
more. Do you miss that morning of shopping without having to hurry? Discovery days may be the answer to your child’s dreams. It is a summer playgroup for little people. Under the watchful eye of the staff, youngsters will have the chance to explore with their peers and discover the natural world around them.
We will have art time, story time and a chance to just play and have fun.

WHO: Children who will 3 to 5 by December 2010
WHEN: Monday morning 9:00-11:30 in July and August
COST: $25.00/ half day session or 5 sessions for $115.00
