Stepping Stones is happy to announce our summer programs for the summer of 2010. We will again be offering three day programs meeting T-W-Th. The exception being our discovery program for 3- 5 year olds that will meet on Mondays. Our three day programs will focus on two groups of children, the morning session (9:00-11:30) will be for children 3 to 5 years of age by September 2010.

The afternoon sessions(12:30-3:00) will be for children entering kindergarten through fourth grade in September 2010. The cost of any of the three day sessions will be $75.00 or $270.00 for 4 sessions. Programs will Start on Tuesday June 29, 2010 with the last program of the summer starting on August 17th.

 

Stepping Stones Educational Center is pleased to announce the offering of ARTASTIC, an after school visual arts enrichment program this fall with Teaching Artist, Dena Engelhardt.

Monday afternoons for children in grades 1-3 (4-5:30pm)
Thursdays for children in grades 4-6 (3:15-4:45pm)

Fun in the Sun

We will begin our summer with three days of games played under
the sun
. Join us for the water balloon toss and in making ice cube necklaces.
Try your hand at dunking for apples in a bucket of water. Do you kow how to
make a real rainbow, come with us as we try our hand at catching raindrops.
Help us as we invent new games to be played outdoors.

Dinos, Dinos, and more Dinosaurs

Did dinosaurs ever roam around your backyard? How big were the early dinosaurs? Do you know how to make a fossil? Have you ever been on a fossil dig? These are some of the areas that we will cover in this three day program. We will be studying the habits of dinosaurs. We will create a time line to show how long ago they existed. This program is designed for the young dinosaur lover in your home.

Discovery Days

Now that summer has arrived and there is no nursery school, does your little one need that something more? Do you miss that morning of shopping without having to hurry? Discovery Days may be the answer to your dreams. It is a summer play group for little people. Under the careful eye of the staff, youngsters will have a chance to explore with their peers and discover the natural world around them. In addition, they will try a little art, listen to stories, and just have fun.

WHO: Children who will be 3 to 5 years old in the fall of 2011
WHEN: AM sessions (9:00 - 11:30)
Mondays in July and August
COST: $25:00/ half-day session or 5 sessions for $110.00

Story time is fun time--a time for relaxation, enjoyment, and fantasy, but also
lends itself to the perfect opportunity to integrate the very finest in children's literature with interesting science topics.
We'll look at such books as Lyle, Lyle, crocodile, The Lorax, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Hot Air Henry and many more. In this program we will also read about animals in literature and do science experiments and play games about animals we study.

Neat Treats from Around the World

All children(and adults) love to eat, but do they love to cook and
prepare their own snacks
. We will explore preparing foods from Mexico, China, and France. Children will learn what children in other countries eat and drink in this thre day program

Kitchen Science

In this half day program we'll look at recipes for learning. Children will learn about foods from different plant parts, how pop corn pops, observe how cooking changes eggs, how heating affects cheese. Children will be exposed to un-mixable liquids and the properties of water. Do you know how to use red cabbage to test for acids and bases? Your child will learn how. Experiment with making invisible ink and blowing up balloons with baking soda and vinegar. All in all, we'll experiment with food items and things found in the kitchen area.

Do you know how to tell the height of clouds by measuring raindrops? Can you make a simple barometer? Who lives in that small pond or stream next door? What do they eat? How do they grow? What type of story can rocks tell! Can you read the rock record? What happened in your backyard--How long ago?
These are just some of the questions we will try to answer in this three day program.

CREATING THREE DIMENSIONAL PROJECTS

 

 

This is the program for that young architect in your house. Can you create the perfect mobile? Can you build a house out of soda straws? How strong is that bridge you are building? We will delve into the world of three dimensional construction.

Three day programs for 4 & 5 year olds

This summer Stepping Stones Educational Center, Inc. will be offering programs for 3 to 5 year olds. These three (3) day programs will run from 9:00 to 11:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. Each week will focus on an exciting topic to stimulate the curious nature of the young learner. One program, Animal Ark will teach the children about animals and help children become sensitive to the four basic needs of animals. Another program will study What's Inside, --An egg--an apple--a watch--a bubble or balloon. A third progam will study Neat Treats for Little Folks? We'll study healthy eating habits and learn to recognize nutritious foods. Children will make cereal necklaces, play cherry drop & hot potato games, and do the grocery relay. Check your schedule to see if your child can join us. How about joining us for beach week. This program focuses on beach activities in our own backyard, fun with water and sand, sandcasting, and other crafts combined with summertime cooking and snacks. Or is your budding scientist into sinking and floating and magnets. If so have them join us for Magnets, boats & things that float. Join us as we study things that live Under the Sea.
