Discovery Days


Now that summer has arrived and there is no nursery school, does your little one need that something more? Do you miss that morning of shopping without having to hurry? Discovery Days may be the answer to your dreams. It is a summer play group for little people. Under the careful eye of the staff, youngsters will have a chance to explore with their peers and discover the natural world around them. In addition, they will try a little art, listen to stories, and just have fun.

WHO: Children who will be 3 to 5 years old in the fall of 2008
WHEN: AM sessions (9:00 - 11:30)
Mondays in July and August
COST: $25.00/ half-day session or 5 sessions for $115.00






Three-day Programs for 4 & 5 year olds

This summer Stepping Stones Educational Center, Inc. will be offering more programs for 3 to his summer Stepping Stones Educational Center, Inc. will be offering more programs for 3 to 5 year olds. These three (3) day programs will run from 9:00 to 11:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. Each week will focus on an exciting topic to stimulate the curious nature of the young learner. One program will take the children on an exciting Zoo Safari where we will learn about wild animals; and help children become sensitive to the four basic needs of animals. During Camping Week we will explore the outdoors! We will make crafts from nature, go on hikes around Stepping Stones and try our hand at camping treats. A program that focuses on beach activities in our own backyard is At the Beach! Children with have fun with water and sand. Does your young student like to create with his hands? Is it exciting to feel things oozing through his fingers? Then Nutty Putty is the program for him. Check your schedule to see if your child can join us. Another program will study Creepy Crawlies, the ants, insects and other bugs that live in the yard. Another week we will discover What's in the Kitchen. We will study healthy eating habits, and learn to recognize nutritious foods. Children will make cereal necklaces, play hot potato games, and do a grocery relay. The final program of the summer we will put on our scuba gear and head Under the Sea to learn about and discover what lies beneath the surface of the ocean. All the arts and crafts for the week will have a sea theme.

Weather or Not?

Have you ever wanted to make a rainbow? Experience solar cooking? Learn how to use the sun to find direction? In weather or not, we will delve into weather related topics. We will make a barometer, an anemometer, and a simple rain gauge. can you catch a raindrop? Come and find out how. Become a mini weather forecaster and try to predict the daily weather.

Neat Teats

All children(and adults) love to eat, but do they love to cook and prepare their own snacks. Have your children learn to measure, stir, and use appliances with adult supervision. We will bake and decorate cookies, try our hand at making pretzels, learn to make pizza and much much more. Each day will be an adventure in cooking.

Story time is fun time--a time for relaxation, enjoyment, and fantasy. Come join us as we delve into some of our favorite animal books. Each day we will read different books on animals and integrate them with art projects for children.

Save Our Earth

Kids can save our planet too! Come join us as we learn to make our own recycled paper, plant a reverse garden, learn how different things we use can be recycled. Join us as we look at our wetlands and learn about how we use a wetlands area without harming it. Take part in planting our own tree. Through creative art projects and hands-on activities we will make a difference; and have fun too!

Around the World
 

Have you ever wanted to travel the world. Well in this 5 day program we will travel to different countries such as China and Spain. We will learn about their cultures, sample their food and play the games they play. Our stories will be about their countries and our art projects will be based on the countries being studied.

Arts & Crafts for all
 


Does your child love to get messy? Well now is the chance to do it creatively. We will be offering an arts and crafts class this summer. We will experiment with cork prints, nature prints, and drawings as well as others. We will delve into our artistic talents by experimenting with different types of painting and modeling with different types of clay. If arts & crafts are your child's passion, this is the class for him or her.
