Stepping Stones Educational Center is pleased to announce the offering of ARTASTIC, an after school visual arts enrichment program this fall with Teaching Artist, Dena Engelhardt.
Exploring with Art taught by Dena Engelhardt
Drawing and painting, oh my! Children can now come to Stepping Stones to travel through art and create images that radiate excitement! Children will learn how to create exciting images using pencils, markers, and paint to name a few. Students will be exposed to a range of artists materials, techniques and work. They will create drawings and paintings while making discoveries in art with everything from the wispy lines of Matisse to the newest Manga style of cartooning. All students will get the basics in drawing, and then progress to painting where their new skills will shine through watercolors and acrylics.
Optional: Our goal for art classes is to enliven children’s ability to create art, extend their skills, and to introduce them to new media and techniques.
Dena has worked with the Bushnell Center for Performing Arts as a Teaching Artist for over a decade providing arts integration projects in the Greater Hartford Area. She holds a BFA in Sculpture and has received training from Lincoln Center Institute for Aesthetic Education and traveled to Reggio Emilia, Italy for first hand study of the Reggio Approach for Early Childhood Education. She is also one of three founders of the NYC non-profit, The Jazz Drama Program, which supports original Jazz musicals for children. She is known for inspiring children to create dynamic works of art and does this though one on one time within every class period.
